 Lighthouse
Bistro is an open air restaurant nestled in the heart of
Kilauea. It is quite popular especially with travelers
making their way to the Kilauea Lighthouse National
Refuge Center from which the restaurant earned its name.
Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers West
Coast/European- and some Pacific Rim-cuisine prepared by
Chef Jason Harbo and his kitchen team. Chef Harbo uses
local ingredients to create his mouthwatering seafood
dishes and steaks.
Sitting next to Kong Lung Store, the green-and-white
wooden Lighthouse Bistro provides offers diners
sophisticated dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. The floors
are made of terracotta and both sides of the building
are open, providing a view of Kilauea Harbor and the
courtyard. Diners sit on bamboo chairs and wooden
tables. On the walls are Hawaiian artworks, which are
for sale. The building’s architecture accentuates the
retro, old plantation feel of the place.
Lighthouse Bistro showcases local talents as well. 4
days a week, diners are entertained to live music by
local musicians. On Friday and Saturday nights, diners
get special treat of Hank Curtis’ piano music. The
Hawaiian paintings on the walls are the artworks of
locals Brian Scott, Jan Smart, Gerda Hofman, and Fred
Peters.
Fresh fish is offered in three preparations: grilled,
blackened, and ginger crusted. Steak selections are also
three: filet mignon, New York, and rib eye. Steaks are
offered in three preparations: blackened, Delmonico, and
grilled. Lighthouse Bistro menu also includes burger,
sandwiches, and pork, chicken, salad, and shrimp dishes.
Help yourself to as much pasta as you want; the pasta
and sauce bar is an eat-all-you-can for just $14.95.
Diners can pair their meal with any of the 14 wines
selected from the best British Columbia wineries.
There’s no keiki menu, but the restaurant’s play area,
the Goody’s Playhouse, will keep your kids entertained.
The playhouse is visible from the bistro, and is
excellent for kiddie parties as well.
A multifunctional restaurant, the bistro can meet your
every catering need. It has a private banquet room for
large party gatherings such as birthday celebrations,
weddings, or baby showers. Setting up a party in your

provide you and your guest the same excellent dishes
