Waikoko Beach, Kauai

Located within Hanalei Bay, Waikoko Beach is easily accessible from the highway, but never crowded. One reason for this is that the swimming conditions are not that good here. The water is too choppy on most days because of too much wave action, and the nearshore ocean bottom is shallow. However, there is plenty of shade on the beach, so it’s a nice spot for a picnic.

Directions: The beach is located right on State Highway 560, at the western end of Hanalei Bay. A parking area is available on the beach.
