16th Annual World Fireknife Dance Competition

Date: May 14 to May 17, 2008

Location: Polynesian Cultural Center, 55-370 Kamehameha Hwy, Laie, HI 96762 (on Oahu), phone: (800) 367-7060

This week the Polynesian Cultural Center holds its annual fireknife dance competition, in which competitors from all over the world come to perform here in Laie for the title of the world’s best. Just watching them will get your adrenaline running. Tickets sell out fast, so it’s recommended to reserve early. Preliminary and semi-final events will take place in the Hale Aloha Theater for $8.00. Night show admission applies for the finals.


Hawaii Book and Music Festival

Date: May 17 to May 18, 2008

This is an annual weekend festival featuring presentations, performances, signings and other events by local, national and international authors, poets, songwriters, playwrights, composers and musicians. Admission and parking are free.
