Anini Beach Park, Kauai

Known for being one of the safest beaches along North Shore Kauai, the Anini Beach park is safeguarded by Hawaii’s longest and widest fringed reef. Consequently, there exists a shallow lagoon in the beach where you can enjoy snorkeling. During the full moon on summer months, you can see the reef. The summer months are also most conducive to swimming and scuba diving. On Sunday afternoons, also during this time, crowds gather to watch polo matches held behind the beach park. The field matches are hosted by the Kauai Polo Club.

The beach has also gained popularity among windsurfers. Some windsurfing schools even operate on the beach site itself. Surfers and kite-boarders have also turned to Anini beach park for an exceptional wave riding experience.

It is interesting to note that on one side of the beach, the water measures up to only four feet in depth. However, be careful when you swim because it slowly goes down deeper and you’ll be surprised that the water reaches down to a hundred feet!

While at Anini, be sure to check out the guest homes and vacation rentals. Expensive and resting on the scenic locations of the beach, these houses are quite popular. In fact, the movie “Honeymoon in Vegas” used one of the houses as a shooting location. You may also want to try the only food vendor at the beach park: the Anini Beach Lunch Shak. They are famous for their “Sara Special.”  Enjoy your lunch under the shady Kamani trees. There are showers and restroom facilities available in the beach park, as well as campsites. There are no lifeguards, though, so be very careful when you explore the waters.
