Maui Eco Tours

mauiecotours.jpgNature hikers of all skill levels are welcome at Maui Eco Tours. The company offers six different hiking trips, all designed to show you the best of Maui and its natural heritage. Their tour guides are all state certified and boast an in-depth knowledge of local culture and wildlife.

The Waterfall Experience over the West Maui Mountains is one of the most picturesque routes. You’ll be walking along some of the world’s most pristine waterfalls, and even taking a swim in two of them. Among the best stops here are the Nakalele Blowhole, Honolua Bay, and Kahakuloa Village. A longer version is the Rainforest/Waterfall Experience, which includes a trip to a thick green jungle and bamboo forest.

For the more adventurous, the Hike/Kayak Combo offers a more diverse route. Besides the usual Maui activities, you’ll also get to sail the clear blue Pacific in a kayak, enjoying rare views of the coastline and even some of the nearby islands. If you’re a culture buff, you may also be interested in the Kahakuloa route, which offers a more in-depth hike into the ancient Kahakuloa and its various historical sites.

Those on the east should check out the Haleakala and Hana hike routes. These hikes feature Maui’s main landmark, Haleakala Volcano, and Hana Town, the most tropical spot on the island. The hikes begin with a drive up the 10,000-ft Haleakala, where you can explore the crater and get great views of the Maui landscape. You can also enjoy fresh island coffee, a local specialty, as a well-deserved after-hike treat.
