Hiking Paradise Maui

hikingparadise.gifHiking Paradise Maui offers a combination of nature hike and historical tour. Besides exploring the island’s rich natural heritage, this Maui activity takes you on a scenic trip through time. Along the hike, experienced guides will tell you about Hawaiian history, local customs, folklore, and ancient traditions.

There are four hikes available from Hiking Paradise, ranging from easy to moderate. The most popular is the Mountain Hike, which goes through a tropical rainforest believed to be a sacred place by locals. You’ll get to see streams being created by tall waterfalls, sample tropical fruits like guava and thimble berries, and learn about Hawaiian medicinal plants.

Those who like a good workout can take the 5-mile Mountain Hike. This route starts with a trip up a pine and eucalyptus forest. The peak is a 1-500-foot high lookout that offers great views of Haleakala Mountain and the Maui landscape. There are lots of great photo opportunities, so make sure to bring your camera.

The Waterfall Hike is for those who like a good swim. The highlight of this Maui activity is standing at a 400-foot waterfall as the mist flows over your skin, nature’s version of a luxury bath. There are lots of waterfalls to choose from, and you can customize your trip to suit your interests. Half-day and full-day hikes are available.

If you have time to kill and want to see more of Maui, the Tropical Paradise Tour may be right for you. Here you’ll get to see everything, from local vegetation to hand-dug irrigation canals dating back to the 1800s. There’s also some swimming, strolling, and climbing, as well as several rest stops for lookouts and photo ops.
