Molokai Princess - The Molokai Ferry
Getting to the island of Molokai can be done either via airplane (currently only Go! Airlines and Island Air fly there) or via ferry, which departs from the town of Lahaina on Maui. The name of the Molokai ferry is Molokai Princess and you can see a short video of it below. There are also two other videos taken on a trip to Molokai from the upper deck of the Molokai Princess.
The Molokai Princess is an older boat, but it still does a good job. There are two decks – the lower one (which is inside) and the upper one (which is an open-air deck). It takes about 90 minutes one-way to travel between Maui and Molokai on the ferry. When the surf is up, it can be quite a rollercoaster ride. This is when it’s not recommended to sit upstairs on the open-air deck because you will get wet.
If you wonder why the Hawaii Superferry doesn’t go to Molokai, one reason is because there would not be much demand for it, and the other reason is that the nearshore waters around Kaunakakai Harbor on Molokai are too shallow and the Superferry wouldn’t be able to dock there.
