We wanted to stay in Lahaina for our trip, for our Maui vacation. We decided to stay at the Aina Nalu. It’s the only Maui hotel in Lahaina that is a Maui condo hotel. Which was fine with us. This was just up are alley, as we liked the convenience of cooking our own food once and awhile.
The Aina Nalu is a short distance from the waterfront. It’s also close to Fort Street, which is good, in case you don’t want to cook every day, and we didn’t. I especially didn’t. I cook for a living, and the thought of doing it every day on vacation wasn’t thrilling for me.
We did use the barbecues a couple of times, though. But Peggy did the cooking there. We did eat out in town a couple of times, and that was a nice break too.
I guess this hotel is part of the Outrigger Hotels, and is maintained by them. That seemed like a plus to us, as some smaller places, or places that were independent, always seemed to have a hard time of keeping up with some things, like updating and cleanliness.
Our room was very modern, with a fully equipped kitchen and all the utensils we needed.
We liked that it was within the historical old town. It kind of gave a different feel — less glitz. This was almost homey.
This wasn’t our most exciting Maui vacation, nor was it a stay at one of the best of the Maui hotels, but it was just right for what we felt like doing.
