Gina had just started taking yoga and was really in love with the idea of becoming a yoga instructor, so for our Maui vacationwe decided to go to Ala Kukui, which is not a Maui hotel but a retreat center in Hana. She and her yoga study group all decided to go, and I went along. This was quite a different Maui vacation for me.
There were twelve people that went, but not all stayed at Ala Kukui. Some stayed at hotels. Gina had provided them with a list of Maui hotels close by. This worked out well, as there were only three bedrooms. Gina was determined to stay on property there, and was the first to put down a deposit on the trip.
We arrived and, after a short nap, took a walk about the property. I liked the way it looked, and the grounds, according to the information, had about twelve acres. Each room has its own lanai, and there was a full kitchen and laundry.
I was not really into yoga, but I was into golf, so I spent a couple of the five days we were there at a golf course. Another guy, Terry, and I went. Terry’s wife is big into yoga, too.
Gina was interested in some of the cultural programs, and she is thinking of coming back some time in the next year or so to take one of them. I’m afraid that will be one Maui vacation she will take without me. Maybe the first. Anyway, I really liked the grounds and the building, and I would go back just for that.
