The beach was just a short distance, and was really uncrowded. We liked that. The last Maui vacation we took was over 10 years ago, and we stayed at the Maui condo something — we can’t remember the name. It was good, but we wanted a step up, and the Hale Pau Hana Resort was a slight step up.
We got a good unit with newer furnishing and appliances. At least I thought they were newer. Laura complained about the stove being ancient. I used it okay. The pool was a decent size, though we are used to bigger an newer ones that you might find at a Maui hotel.
We were upstairs, so we had great views, and the sunsets were really nice. If only I could bottle that and take it home.
Laura and a lady she met from New York City played tennis a couple of times. Good thing she met this lady, as my left knee was acting up and sore. I couldn’t have played even one round. I did try golf, though, and thank god for carts. Even then, I was barely able to walk the next day.
That’s the day that Laura wanted to really go exploring the beach, too. I hobbled along, but had to go back and put my leg up after awhile. While she was gone exploring, though, I did grill some steaks, and had them ready. Then we took a drive.
We might go back to our favorite Maui hotel on our next Maui vacation, but this was good.
