It was a little crowded, and the Hibiscus Hut is not the Ritz or Four Seasons, but if you want an inexpensive little Maui Bed and Breakfast, this is the place. Where else can you stay for under $80 dollars per night on a Maui vacation? Nowhere that I know of.
We were going on the cheap, or we weren’t going. Things are not all that great in Detroit now-a-days, and the Hibiscus Hut had our family name on it, so to speak. The girls weren’t all to happy, but they stopped complaining when they found out it was just a short walk to a really cool beach. Lena got up on a surf board at Cove Park. So she got a t- shirt that said “I went on a Maui vacation, and all I caught was a wave.” The t-shirt had a hunky Hawaiian dude on it, but I think the meaning of the shirt was lost on Lena.
We cooked some things and ate a bunch of junk food. The Hibiscus Hut had a kitchenette, so I let Jim do the cooking. Why not? I was on vacation. We’ve stayed in other Maui Bed and Breakfasts, so I was a bit leery that I would be taking a step down, and like I said, if you want luxury you have to pick another place for your Hawaii vacation.
The furnishings are pretty basic, too, but what the heck. It was light and airy, and anyplace is better than Detroit. Jim brought his laptop, and was connected to the internet with wireless, so he was happy. I sat outside, caught some sun, painted a master piece in the art studio, which you can use for a small fee, and it was a pretty relaxing time.

I’m not getting a response from the owner on getting my deposit back after I stayed there for 2 weeks. The rental was left in great shape.
