What we really liked about that Maui vacation was our stay at the Aloha Cottage Bed and Breakfast. Gina thought we would have to be playing host to the landlords, or having the butt in all the time, but it wasn’t the case.
It took awhile to get there, as the Aloha Cottage is really an old Maui estate, and is out in the country. There were two cottages. The one we stayed in was the Bali Bungalow. The other was called the Thai Tree House. Both were furnished like the countries.
The owners, Ron and Ranjana, were very accommodating. They greeted us like long lost friends. We told them it was our first visit and our first Maui vacation. They seemed honored that we chose to stay with them. Gina liked that right away.
We didn’t know that we were staying in a place that had gotten some great write ups in travel magazines that reviewed Maui Bed and Breakfasts. We couldn’t have cared less — famous or not.
The fun thing about the Bali Bungalow is that it has eight sides, with the bed in the center. Eight can mean good luck, and it was a good stay for us. Very relaxing. Gina did complain about being so far out in the country, but only once or twice. Me, I didn’t care. I whipped up a few snacks. There was a full kitchen.
We checked out the Thai Tree House, and liked that, too. It’s off in a little forest of bamboo, and is really secluded, though it is maybe 1500 feet away from the main house. If you want an authenic Maui Bed and Breakfast look and feel, Aloha cottage fits the bill.
