Independence Day, 4th of July Fireworks Show at Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu, 2008

0

Independence Day, 4th of July, is a big event and a holiday all over U.S. and people in many cities gather and celebrate the day. The peak of the celebration is the evening fireworks. Just like the other U.S. states, Hawaii celebrated with fireworks as well.

The fireworks show took place in Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu where the approximate number of people gathering in the park reached 50000! I was there too and yes, it was really really crowded! I noticed each year more and more people come and it gets busier and bisier. This 4th of July event happened on Friday, so this fact itself increased the number of visitors.

Anyway, I arrived at Ala Moana Park at about 8:10 pm and the fireworks show started at 8:30 pm. I did not dare to go all the way to the beach from where I could have had en even closer look at the fireworks because it was so busy. People were playing with fire crackers and I thought that it wasn’t safe, so I stayed back in the grassy area.

The fireworks were nice - some had palm tree shapes, heart shapes, circles and smily faces. The show lasted 20 minutes and here are some pictures for you to see.
