We first heard of this Maui Bed and Breakfast when we drove the Keokea and stopped at one of the stores and bought some Keokea grown coffee. An older couple started talking to us about the Moonlight Garden Bed and Breakfast. They were going on and on about the view and the fresh air. They were from Los Angeles, and they said the didn’t get much fresh air there. This was their first Hawaii vacation and their first stay at a Maui Bed and Breakfast.

We looked at it and decided that next time for a Hawaii Vacation we would stay at the Moonlight Garden Bed and Breakfast. The owners were really friendly, and they waved and said they would see us next year. They were righter than we were.

Anne and Marvin greeted us after the ride from the airport and up the Mt. Haleakala. They remembered us very well, and even quoted some of the conversation we had a year earlier. Amazing! I dug Anne’s accent. Later I learned it was a mix of Aussie and English.

We stayed in the Mahina Cottage, which reminded me of old pictures of how Hawaii used to be in the 1940’s and 1950’s. The view was to die for. It overlooked the ocean and what we learned later to be as the West Maui Mountains.

Marvin gave us a bit of a history lesson. This used to be a family estate, and he knows all the little details that make this a much different Hawaii vacation than a stay in a hotel. This was the second Maui Bed and Breakfast that we stayed in, and we will probably sample a few more, but this is on our list to use again.

We have stayed with Anne and Marvin in the past. They are gracious hosts who go out of their way to make things great for you. The cottages are comfortable with great views. Anne makes sure that everything is clean and leaves a nice breakfast, in the morning. Their gardens, below the cottages, have flowering and fruit trees and the grounds are well kept. I would highly recommend staying with them and will continue to stay with them, in my future visits to Maui.
