Maui Vacation Rental - North Shore Ocean View Cottages: Whispering Bamboo Cottage

The thing that sold me on this Maui vacation was the wireless Internet. I have to have it. And the North Shore Ocean View Cottages did. We scoped them out and decided of the three — Whispering Bamboo, Hibiscus Hideaway Apartment and Swaying Palms Studio — we liked the Whispering Bamboo Cottage the best.

At least the way it looked online. It was smaller, peach colored and very comfortable looking. It was priced right, at $150 per night for the two of us. We were in the low season, though. Both of us were just exhausted from work, so we just sat on the patio and listened to the clicking of the bamboo and the birds. We only interrupted this to go to the pool.

I, of course brought my laptop, and was doing some catch-up emails while listening to the birds. Some way to spend a Maui vacation, no? But I did some cooking. The Whispering Bamboo has a full kitchen, and I had gone to Haiku’s Gourmet and stocked up on a few things. Whispering Bamboo is not what I would call deluxe appointed, as the furniture really reminded me of home, but that was part of the charm, I guess. And for the price, you can’t expect solid mahogany. One day we went over to Ho’okipa Beach and watched the surfers. I still don’t know how some of them stay up that long.

If you want an inexpensive place to put up for a few nights, Whispering Bamboo will do. Like I said, it’s not the Ritz, but worth what you’re paying.
