We were thrilled to finally be able to get out of Chicago and over to Hawaii for the long talked about and planned Maui vacation. I was in charge of getting the air, so Sue got the rooms. We wanted to stay someplace different, not a hotel type of setting.
Sue chose Adventure in Paradise’s Tradewinds Suite. We were glad we chose this, as we liked the privacy and the kids liked it too. The kids, especially Megan, thought the tiki torches that were lit at night were very cool. I have to admit, I liked them too. Really makes you think tropical and gets you away from it all. You don’t see tiki torches in Chicago too often.
We had breakfast the next morning and were looking out over an island we later discovered was Molokai. Sue liked the spa. It was a larger one, 500 gallons I think it said. Anyway, when the kids were finally in bed the second night, she just kept saying while we were out there catching the last few rays of sunset, that this is what a Maui vacation is supposed to be like. I agreed.
I didn’t really miss the big resort setting. When you consider the rates, too, that are under $250 per room, plus $20 each for the kids, it’s a bargain. I did some cooking, too, so Sue could have a break. We would go back. In fact, Sue is already thinking of when. I’m not sure if I want to go next year. But the place was comfortable, modern and we had some great views.
