When I was thinking Maui vacation I wasn’t thinking of a bed and breakfast. Sadie chose this place.
She travels all the time for work, and she said that she couldn’t stand the thought of staying in another hotel room, no matter how fancy or nice. She wanted something more homey, so that is why she chose Adventure in Paradise’s Starwood Honeymoon and Vacation Cottage.
I hadn’t heard of it, of course, and wasn’t too thrilled about the idea of kind of staying in somebody’s house. But my mind was changed. It’s is actually a stand alone cottage and is not attached to anything else.
The nice thing was that the Starwood was only a short drive from the airport, maybe twenty minutes. And once I saw the views you saw out over the water, I was a bit more sold. We stayed in the StarWind Cottage. It’s built into the side of the hill, standing on stilts, and is really large. There is a second bedroom, so Sadie said if we come back next year we can bring Oscar and Sue.
The first night we just unwound and looked out over the water with a drink. There’s a full kitchen, too, if you want to really go that route. Sadie didn’t, and even though I do a lot of the cooking, I was on vacation too. There is a great restaurant at Adventure in Paradise if you like seafood.
We weren’t far from Lahaina and Wailea, and we spent some time over there. So I wasn’t planning on this type of stay for a Maui vacation, but I did kind of like it. Stay here if you want to be away from the crowds, want a homey setting and some good food at the restaurant.
