Expect a Better Welcome Next Time You Come to Honolulu

Of the 20 airports identified by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection for improvement, Honolulu International Airport is lucky to be among the list. The United States has realized that the numbers of visitors coming to the US is falling each year. Figures show that the number of visitors coming to the US has fallen by up to 11 percent from the year 2000.According to recently conducted surveys; international travelers consider the U.S. entry process to be the hardest in the whole world.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection now want to improve the process of clearing and welcoming overseas visitors to the United States through the selected airports. To this effect, they have developed a video available in Spanish, French, English and German which shows the whole process of customs and immigrations. Travelers will be given these videos.

Visitors will also be given new “Welcome to the US” brochures and other bilingual direction signs. There is also a plan to equip Honolulu Airport and the other selected airport with more video monitors displaying welcome messages and entry process information.

The custom service also says they will put together people who will come up with ways to improve on the overall experience of America’s travelers and visitors. They will consist of private and public officials.

Honolulu joins the other cities of New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Newark, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth, Orlando, Detroit, Boston, Las Vegas, Seattle, Philadelphia, San Juan, Fort Lauderdale and Sanford to participate in this $40 dollar project.

Ever since 9/11, the numbers of visitors to America have dropped significantly. I hope this can show the rest of the world that America still welcomes all people. What to you think?
